Delhi Holds Cycle Rally To Create Awareness About Commonwealth Games

Nearly 200 students participated in a 15-km-long cycle rally Sunday, organised by the Delhi government to create awareness about the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG).
The CWG awareness cycle rally was flagged off by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit from Rajghat.
"Cycling is not just an environment friendly option but also promotes a healthy way of life. The rally is just a step towards spreading awareness about the commonwealth games," said Dikshit while speaking on the occasion.
Nearly 200 students from about 15 technical institutions of the national capital participated in the rally organised by Delhi Knowledge Development Foundation under the aegis of Delhi government's Department of Training and Technical Education (DTTE).
"The rally is in conformance to the objective of XIX Commonwealth Games-2010 to encourage sports development and physical recreation and promote the shared values of integrity, fair play competence, team work, commitment to excellence, respect for gender equality and tolerance," she added.
The rally commenced from Rajghat and covered Ajmeri Gate, Paharganj, Rani Jhansi, Old Baraf Khana, Tees Hazari, ISBT, Mori Gate, G.P.O., Red Fort and culminated at Rajghat.

  1. I think this is a good step infact the Delhi government really needs to take more such rallys and training programs to create awareness among delhites for smooth commonwealth proceedings. Specially about the traffic movement and behaviour on public conveyance.

The unsupportive crowd there if not trained is going to create a lot of chaos. You can easily see people on metro stations not following the basic instructions like standing in que or letting the passangers deboard first.

Like Chitambaram said "Sudhar jao Delhi walon". Some stuff really need to be done to help them 'sudhaaro'. ;)
