After cricket, kabaddi mein hai PAISA!!!

The first edition of Pearls World Cup Kabaddi Punjab-2010 kicked off on 3rd April with prize money of Rs. 2.16 crore which is the higest ever offered by any non-cricketing sport in the country.

The mega event is hosted by the Punjab Government at eight different venues across the state. The 10 day event features nine teams, including UK & USA. Host India have been placed in pool A while traditional rivals in Pakistan are in pool B.

The opening ceremony of this first-ever international kabaddi tournament showcased the strong cultural legacy of India through folk dances of 14 different states. Besides, spectators were regaled by Punjabi singers and comedians.

Bollywood actors Dharmendra and his son Sunny Deol also participated in the function.

“The tournament has attracted 15 private sponsors stepping in for the event. Its is for the first time in the history of Punjab that kabaddi tournament is offering prize money in crores” said Bikram Singh Majithia, Senior vice chairperson of the organizing committee
